This is the only Cairns sailing tour that visits both Green Island and Pinnacle Reef in the same day. Taking only 25 guests, experience a relaxed and personal day tour with a guaranteed 4 1/2 hours to explore the Reef & Green Island. Your day includes snorkelling equipment, guided snorkel tours, time on Green Island and tropical lunch.
Introductory Diving
Scuba diving lesson, tuition and a few skill tests on board and holding onto a bar in the water. Top quality scuba diving equipment (including Wet / Stinger Suit). 30 minute hand-held, fully guided scuba dive. On arrival at the reef you are put into small introductory diver groups. The maximum group size on Ocean Free is 2 divers per instructor to ensure a very comfortable and relaxed experience. If you’re absolutely terrified, we will even offer you 1:1 instruction!! Ocean Free is the only company to offer such small numbers, as well as friendly, personalised instruction.
Certified Diving
For those wanting a relaxed conservative dive, Pinnacle Reef is one of the best kept secrets on the Great Barrier Reef! Come and introduce yourself to our black tipped reef sharks (totally harmless), batfish, spangled emperor and turtles, to mention just a few of our residents. Meander around large “bommies” (coral outcrops) which rise from 10-12m below to just below the surface.
Laze around the beautiful coral gardens, great for a safety stop and amazing for your first dive, especially if it has been a while since you were last under the water (yes, you can still see the surface!!).

- Returns Cairns: 5.00pm
Boarding commences at 7.30am for an 8.00am departure. Enjoy fresh tea, coffee, fruit and Danish pastries, which are served on board on your arrival.
As we make our way out of the Cairns Marina, you are welcome to assist with the hoisting of the sails. Then just kick back and enjoy the motor sail to Green Island on the Great Barrier Reef.
Once sails are dropped we meander through the reef to our private mooring at Pinnacle Reef, with Green Island just 1Km away. This is all you’ve ever dreamed of in a tropical paradise! The boat is greeted by schools of spangled emperors, yellow tailed fusiliers, parrot fish and giant trevally. The Great Barrier Reef is just below.
Now your underwater adventures begin! You can snorkel directly off the boat, floating over coral gardens. Or try introductory diving* for the first time. No experience needed and it’s 2 divers for 1 instructor. Certified divers* can enjoy a guided dive.
After all that in-water action, you will be ready to enjoy the delicious smorgasbord lunch.
In the afternoon transfers to Green Island begin – look out for turtles on the way! Wander along the beautiful white beach and walk around the island to view the bird life and vegetation.
After over 4 ½ hours on the Great Barrier Reef and Green Island we set sail for Cairns (wind permitting). Endulge in a complimentary glass of wine with your afternoon tea (fruit, cheese & cake), a perfect finale to a day of snorkeling and diving on the Great Barrier Reef.
We arrive back to Cairns around 5pm with the sun setting in the hills behind Cairns. Beautiful.
