Fitzroy Island lets you experience the rainforest, the reef and a tropical island all in the one day from Cairns.  Fitzroy Island is only a 45 minute boat ride from Cairns and getting there is quite spectacular in itself as you skirt alongside the truly beautiful coastline. Fitzroy Island is quite mountainous and provides multiple walking tracks for the keen hiker, and is also home to the famous Nudey Beach (not a nudist beach).  You can also enjoy snorkelling in a variety of locations off the Island or even join a glass bottom coral viewing boat tour.

Cancellations received within 24 hours prior to departure and no shows are subject to 100% cancellation fee.  Cancellations received with greater than 24 hours notice are entitled to a full refund or travel credit.

Book just a ferry ticket only or choose to include a packed picnic lunch, snorkelling equipment and/or glass bottom boat tour to your day!

Snorkel Equipment

Snorkel and explore the fringing coral reefs in both Welcome Bay and Nudey Beach at your leisure, with hard and soft corals only meters from the shore. Flotation vests & lycra suits are included.

Glass Bottom Boat Tour

Explore below from above!  Stay dry and book a ride around the island to see some of the best coral reefs around the island. Spot sea turtles and colorful fish as you are guided by our expert staff.

Packed Picnic Lunch (must request at time of booking – extra $20pp)

A great value picnic lunch that you take with you on your walks or hikes, or just relax and eat on the beach.  Picnic lunch includes the following:

Double Smoked Leg Ham, Cheddar Cheese, Dijon Mustard, Tomato and Lettuce Baguette

Marinated Chicken Breast, Cucumber, Carrot, Herbed Mayonnaise and Salad Half Wrap

Seasonal Whole Fruit

Carmen’s Chocolate and Cranberry Muesli Bar

ITINERARY

This is an example of a suggested full day itinerary:

  • 8:15am – Check in onboard the vessel at the Marlin Jetty
  • 9.00am – Depart Cairns.  Sit back, relax and talk to our friendly team while you cruise to Fitzroy Island
  • 9:45am – Collect snorkel equipment, lycra suits and life vests from our friendly crew on board if you have selected to this inclusion
  • 10:00am – Swim and snorkel at your leisure off the beach
  • 12:30pm – Grab your cool delicious healthy picnic lunch and drink and enjoy it anywhere on the island
  • 1:30pm – Rainforest Walks.  With multiple walks around the National Park including a summit walk, lighthouse walk and a short 20min walk to the famous Nudey Beach
  • 2:15pm – Swim and snorkel again, or join our glass bottom boat tour
  • 3:15pm – Relax!  Fitzroy Island is the perfect place to relax and enjoy a cold beer overlooking the beach at Foxy’s Bar
  • 3:45pm – Head back to the wharf to get ready for departure at 4pm
  • 5.00pm – Arrive back into Cairns.
